We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzi Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suzi, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
Being a Mom of five with a significant age gap. My kiddos range in ages from 28, 25, 23, and 11-year-old twins. I have found that being honest about situations in my life can help my children with life lessons or making decisions about something, and of course, I keep it age-appropriate.

Let's talk about it! The "S" Word.
Most people are afraid to say it, and many won't dare ask if you are thinking about it. It's not a dirty word.
It's real for a lot of people. Join Marcy and Tyreese on the virtual counseling couch to discuss suicide prevention and treatment on Thursday Therapy with Suzi Freeman.

Knowing how to have hard conversations with our children is one of the toughest (I think) parts of parenthood. My guest today, Suzi Freeman, shares how to have open, age-appropriate communication with your children and the importance of non-reactive listening.
We also discuss her journey as a single mom and why just being human with your children makes all the difference. I know I picked up quite a few tips from her in this conversation, so enjoy!
Suzi Freeman is a Speaker and Educator in Emotional Intelligence, Mental Resilience, and Suicide Prevention. She is the Founder of Elite Minds Academy, a membership site that focuses on emotional intelligence, mental resilience and provides different means to help reduce stress & anxiety.
Suzi is also the founder of the Aware and Care Project; this project provides free workshops for youth in emotional intelligence, mental resilience, suicide prevention, and street smarts awareness training.
The youth training we incorporate brings awareness to the new mental health hotline 988 by way of branded stuffed animals, a book by Suzi and her daughters Hanna and Abby, and branded jewelry with 988.
Aware and Care Project will launch the newest program in 2023, a 12-week training course for those entering the military, police, and fire. It is a course that focuses on Mental Strengths Training and provides a mentor and a physical training program design to ensure you hit all the numbers to exceed the PT portion of your chosen field. This is a free mentorship course, and we will serve 28 per year.
